Grace Lake Association, Beltrami County
DNR ID#29-0071, a 887-acre lake about 6 miles southeast of Bemidji MN, just north of Hwy 2 on the border between Hubbard and Beltrami counties.
The Grace Lake Improvement Association was started in 1954 with membership of all three resorts and lakeshore owners. This lake is heavily developed, but has many properties that are large. They also have agriculture near them, but the lake is within a wooded area.
Pelican Lake Association of St. Anna, Stearns County,
Pelican Lake, DNR ID# 73-0118-00, is a 337 acre lake on the north side of HWY 94 about 5 mile from Albany and Avon MN.
This association in fairly new, but it about 8 years it has accomplished things that other lakes have worked on for decades. Pelican Lake is a small lake that is about 2/3 developed, has lots of agriculture around it so they have many things projects on which they can focus.
Sugar Lake Association, Wright County
Sugar Lake, DNR ID# 86023300 is a 1,019 acre lake south of HWY 94 and is about 7 mile north of Maple Lake MN, and about 7 mile south of Clearwater MN.
This association was formed in 1972 when the lake was considerably different. It is now almost completely developed and is well along with significant make-over of "cabins-to-residences". There is considerable agriculture around the lake but also some DNR woodland and marshland as well.

Beebe Lake Improvement Association, Wright County
Beebe Lake, DNR ID# 86002300 is 296 acre lake located about 9 miles southwest of Albertville MN, and 9 miles north of Rockford MN, equal distance from Hwy 55 and Hwy 94.
This association was started as the Beebe Lake Improvement Association in 1976. There are approximately 50 properties on lake and about 35 are BLIA members. About 40% of lake is developed and about 60% is either farmland or county park-owned.
Beebe Lake is a fully recreational lake that has something to offer everyone--a beautiful Wright County Park/beach, great fishing, a nice boat launch, diverse wildlife, and close proximity to the Twin Cities. Beebe Lake is one of the few lakes in Wright County that has an island! The Beebe Lake Improvement Association (BLIA) boasts a long-standing, engaged membership that has worked on many lake improvement initiatives over the past 35 years.

Big Sandy Lake Association, Aitkin County
Big Sandy Lake, DNR ID# 01-0062-00 is a 6,526 acre lake (the largest Star Lake at this point) is just east of Hwy 65 about 10 miles north of McGregor, MN.
This association started in the mid 50's although lake owners had started banding together to work on common issues as early as the 1930's. Big Sandy has many densely populated areas as well as considerable sparsely populated areas. Association membership on large lakes is a challenge but Big Sandy Lake Association has 520 members out of it 970 property owners.

Birch Lake Improvement District, Ramsey County
Birch Lake, DNR ID# 62-0024 is a 123 acre shallow basin lake located in Ramsey County, just east of HWY35E and north of MN CR 96 in White Bear Lake, MN.
Birch Lake is 100% developed. The BLID enjoys 100% membership by the property owners on the lake. The BLID, previously known as the Birch Lake Improvement Association (BLIA), has been working on lake issues since the early 1960's. Then, upon receiving 60% of the lakeshore owner’s approval, the Birch Lake Improvement District was formed by the White Bear Lake City Council in an order dated June 15, 2006.
As a shallow urban lake, with busy roads surrounding all sides of the lake, the BLID face some stiff challenges. Some of these challenges include, educating surrounding residents and businesses of their effect on the lake, reducing the nutrient and salt run-off into the lake, dense water-vegetation control, keeping the lake from a freeze out causing a fish-kill, and the reduction in shoreline erosion. The first thing the BLID did was to work with our watershed district and contracted lake hydrologist to develop a long term Sustainable Lake Management Plan (SLMP). The BLID has developed a very good partnership and working relationship with both the City of White Bear Lake and the Vadnais Lake Area Water Management Organization (VLAWMO).
Cedar Lake Conservation Club, Wright County
Cedar Lake, DNR ID# 86022700 is a 783.19 acre lake located just north of HWY 55 about 3 miles east of Annandale.
This Association was formed in July of 1953 and has maintained about 70% participation from the 250 property owners on the lake. The lake is completely developed but has several large parcels of property including a County Park, and Camp Courage on the lake. The lake has a lot of wooded shoreland, but has a large agricultural area on the east side while the west side is mostly large residential properties and a golf course. Cedar Lake is a deep lake with excellent recreational usage and a strong diversity of wild life habitats.

Crooked Lake Area Association, Anoka County
Crooked Lake, DNR # 02-84P, is a 114-acre lake located just north of HWY 10 and about 2.5 miles east of Anoka.
The lake is mostly developed and has a city park with fishing pier on its east side and a public boat landing on the north end. Crooked Lake has good water quality particularly for a shallow urban lake.
The Crooked Lake Area Association (CLAA) dates back to the 1960s when it was originally called the Crooked Lake Civic Association. In 2007 CLAA incorporated into a Minnesota 317A non-profit corporation. Its active dues paying members consist of two-thirds of the 120 shoreline homeowners as well as some off-lake members.
For the last 20 years CLAA has actively worked to control invasive species with the two cities the lake straddles, Andover and Coon Rapids, and the Coon Creek Watershed District. CLAA has also worked with the Anoka Conservation District (ACD) to install several rain gardens and shoreline buffers. Currently, the CLAA is cost-sharing an innovative plant study for the summer of 2011 to try to determine the capacity of aquatic native plants to compete with Eurasian Water Milfoil.

Granite Lake Watershed Improvement District, Wright County
Granite Lake, DNR# 86021700 is a 353 acre lake located south of Hwy 55 about 7 miles southwest of Maple Lake.
Granite lake has a long history of activity including the first record of fish stocking in 1919. From that time the foundation of an association continued to get more involved in lake management. The lake is mostly developed and surround by agricultural lands. There are undeveloped areas on both the north and south ends of the lake.
Lobster Lake Association, Douglas County
Lobster Lake, DNR# 21014400 is a 1,329 acre lake located just south of I94 about 6 miles west of the Alexandria exit.
Lobster lake has many bays, points, and ponds nearby. The lake is mostly developed but has many larger parcels and also considerable agriculture near and around the lake. Deciduous forests and grasslands make up over 60% of the land in the lake shed. The lakeshore owners have been very active for many decades starting about the 1930 during the drought years. As time passed they became more active and formalized their Lake Management Plan in 2004.

The Cross Lake Association of Pine County, Pine County
Cross Lake of Pine County is a 942 acre lake located just east of I 35 on the east side of Pine City.
Cross Lake is maintained by a dam on the Snake River as it exits the southeast side of the lake. The lake is very heavily developed
with some open areas especially on the north end. The association has been active for a long time and in 2004 they participated in the Health Lakes Program and developed their Lake Management Plan.
